How to remove hair with a fake tan on

If you are anything like me with pale skin and dark hair, we can’t go a few days without shaving our legs or underarms. I mean, I wish I could, wouldn’t that be something? So something you have probably asked yourself after applying a self tan mousse or getting a spray tan is, can I still shave with my fake tan on? The answer is, yes and I am going to tell you the best way to do it!

Before I tell you how to remove hair with a fake tan on, I want to make sure you know how to remove hair BEFORE a fake tan.

  1. Remove UNWANTED (only hair you normally would, you can still have hair on your arms, etc.) hair 24 hours before a spray tan or self tan application.

It is very important you remember to do it 24 hours before so that your pores are closed, leaving you with a flawless fake tan. This rule goes for any way you prefer to remove hair; waxing, sugaring, threading or shaving. If for some reason you forget this rule and already have a spray tan appointment or have to apply self tan mousse, put an icecube on the area you removed hair from to close your pores.

If you don’t feel like removing hair on your body before applying a self tan mousse or getting a spray tan, you can still fake tan and shave later.

Okay, now that you know that part, let’s talk about removing hair with a fake tan on.

  1. There is only ONE way you can do this and that is with shaving. You can shave 24 hours after your fake tan application.

When shaving, only use a basic razor (non with a bar soap connected to it) and with Dr. Bronner’s unscented body wash (the body wash I recommend any fake tan lover uses). If your razor isn’t working as well with that, you can use a natural hair conditioner to have the razor glide better on your skin.

You CANNOT wax, sugar or thread with a sunless tan on, it will take it off. The only time you can do this is when your fake tan fades or you are ready to exfoliate your fake tan off.

I hope this helps your fake tan game, feel free to ask me any fake tan questions in the comments!

XOXO, Rae
